Marilyn Bui

Senior Member and Professor in the Department of Pathology, Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute

Dr. Bui is a tenured, Senior Member in the Departments of Pathology and Machine Learning, and the Scientific Director of the Analytic Microscopy Core at the Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida with nearly 20 years of experience. She is also a Professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine and served as the Cytopathology Fellowship Program Director for 14 years. Her expertise includes cancer diagnostics through surgical pathology, cytopathology, biomarker testing, digital pathology, and augmented intelligence (Al). She is a co-investigator and study pathologist for multiple research grants. She is on the editorial board member of multiple journals. She has received patents in digital pathology and cancer diagnostics, and has published over 220 peer-reviewed articles, 33 book chapters, and three books. Dr. Bui serves on committees organizing national meetings and has been frequently invited to speak nationally and internationally.

Dr. Bui is active in multiple medical and pathology organizations, including currently serving as president of the Florida Society of Pathologists. She is a past president of the Digital Pathology Association, the Chinese American Pathologists Association, and the Moffitt Cancer Center Medical Staff. For the past 20 years, Dr. Bui has been an active member of numerous College of American Pathologists' (CAP) councils, committees, and workgroups, including serving as a former chair of CAP Today's editorial board, the Publications Committee, the HER2 quantitative image analysis of breast cancer guidelines expert panel, and the Florida delegation of House of Delegates (HOD), and is the current Digital and Computational Pathology committee chair and vice speaker of HOD. She also co-edited The Healing Art of Pathology book. Dr. Bui was named the 2019 CAP Distinguished Patient Care Award recipient.
